I somehow stumbled across this at my local Best Hold on May 11, 2009. To the best of my knowledge, it wasn’t supposed to be released outside of rifftrax.com for another month. Naturally, I grabbed it hasty.

The comedy of Mike, Kevin, and Bill is solid as expected. Some of the jokes are the word-for-word precise same as in the earlier version from Memoir Films, featuring only Mike Nelson’s comedy track. In this version, however, the delivery of those lines is shared by Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett. Luckily, there is some original material mixed in that offsets the repeats. If you’ve never seen the previous version, you won’t even peek.

I only had two valid technical issues with this DVD. Firstly, the menu camouflage ran once and then stopped instead of looping benefit to the commence. This meant that I had to commence the entire DVD all over again. Secondly, the video was choppy in parts. The audio ran without deny, but some parts of the film seemed to be skipping video frames. I am not determined if this was an mumble with all copies of this DVD or if it’s specific to my player.

All in all, it’s appetizing and humorous, a valid take for any fan of Rifftrax, Mystery Science Theater 3000, or Cinematic Expansive.

This dilapidated dark and white movie was cheaply made but became a Cult Hit shock terror film that started the Flesh-Eating Zombie movie craze. The venerable MST3K crew of Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett hold it on with quite a few comical riffs. Some don’t quite hit the state, and the guys miss some choice moments to riff, but that’s always the case with Rifftrax. One of the better ones was, “A Zombie’s Worst enemy, a Clothesline.” The clueless young couple who try to race the zombies and the ultra-Angry family man salvage lots of attention. Rifftrax does not include outmoded MST3K things like skits, sets, or the Bots. You never Observe the guys in any originate. You simply HEAR them from the beginning to the slay of the movie. Not even an Intro!

I also recommend Rifftrax “House on Stupefied Hill.” It’s terrific.

This one has it all. There’s violence, sex, car chases, explosions, cheezy ’80s music,a ‘56 Chevy, and most importantly a drive-in! In a futuristic 1990 the government is keeping the unemployed youth locked up in a drive-in and giving them snack bar food, drugs, beer, and all night movies for free.Where do I trace up? Yes it’s a bit laughable at times, and the premise is astounding, but after all it’s a “B” film. You impartial can’t examine perfection in films like these, and I (for one) wouldn’t have it any other plot. There’s nothing like stepping aid to a simpler time and state. This blooming miniature independent film from Down Under is objective like taking a mini vacation in the arrangement assist machine.Pop this one in the DVD demolish out the popcorn and a wintry Fosters and luxuriate in this blast from the past….8)

8/10 on the Drive-in-Freak-O-Meter…ya impartial gotta check this out!

In the come future (that is, 1994) the world is brought to the brink of anarchy by, for some reason, inflation. This has apparently caused millions of rusted car frames to be scattered around Australia, and forced everyone to dress like hepped up punk rockers and fight with tire irons. Thusly, the government tricks the unemployed people into drive ins and locks them up. This clever ruse works despite the fact that no one in Australia ever returns from the movies. If you like movies which are both painfully dreadful and jaw-droppingly improbable, this is the film for you. What doesn’t it have? There is pointless nudity, ample continuity problems, tire fires, dozens of Inflamed Max meets the Sex Pistols montages, a fight with cricket bats,a timeless lesson about racism/relationships/junk food, a fight with car parts, wonderful hairstyles, a monkey smoking pot, vigilante tow truck squads, and place holes you could drive one of their combat ready tonka’s through. This is an fine cultural artifact shedding light on the eighties, sub-cultures, and Australian psychoses. Don’t examine it to be excellent, but prepare for it to be extraordinary.

There’s a battle going on for the source of life, water. Our corporate media isn’t saying worthy about it, but across the globe citizens are struggling against transnational corporations like Nestle and Vivendi which are seizing the dwindling unique water supplies. It’s an absolutely important topic that this film explains in an informative and intelligent fashion. “Lunge” takes us to Bolivia Cochabamba!: Water War in Bolivia, South Africa, India Water Wars: Privatization, Pollution, and Profit, Michigan and beyond; and introduces us to the people who are being harmed by corporate tyrannies that are claiming the water of their land. Large businesses are making a fortune as they pollute or divert water supplies, or bottle it for sale at prices that the world’s terrible cannot afford.

People in the wealthy nations may feel they are immune from this crisis, but they too are being ripped off by the bottled water racket and poisoned by the continuing toxification of water with synthetic chemicals Toxic Legacy: Synthetic Toxins in the Food, Water and Air of American Cities.

“Stagger” features many heroes we don’t yet know the names of, like Vandana Shiva and Maude Barlow; but we are fortunate they have been slowing the march of the corporate fundamentalists The Corporation. People concerned about health and justice will want to contribute to the cause of water rights for humans, not for CEOs. Buying and sharing this film is a big first step. Subscribing to magazines like Onearth also helps, as the Natural Resources Defense Council is featured in this film due to the research and litigation they’ve been advancing on this and so many other pressing environmental issues.

Parts of this film will infuriate the viewer, but that mood is a natural and famous portion of the process toward social change. The film ends on an optimistic impress about the power of the people, something that elites have feared for centuries The Chomsky Sessions: Noam Chomsky On The World.

Let’s get the change we and our children so desperately need Yes!.

This DVD release of GOING MY Plan and HOLIDAY INN is purely OUTSTANDING! As both of these films have been perennial favorites for sixty years, I need not comment on their merits. I will say that these are some of the best DVD transfers of older films I have ever seen. The pictures for both films (in sunless and white) are crisp and determined, sad levels are solid and well defined, and there is no graininess to instruct of. Age-related artifacts are virtually non existent. The soundtracks of both films are beginning to indicate their age, but composed sound lovely and certain. Other than theatrical trailers for both films, there are no other extras, but we earn two sizable films in outstanding transfers for less than the stamp of one, so we have absolutely no apt to gripe.

In my idea, these two films aren’t the certain choices to pair together (Holiday Inn paired with White Christmas, and Going My Intention build on the same disc as The Bells of St. Mary’s would have been the most definite choice), but I digress. Hats off to Universal Home Video for this Superior release. The DVD is a MUST HAVE in any collection. Hasten to take a copy.

NOTE: The shroud art shown is not the same as the novel, most original DVD release from Universal Home Video, the one which you gape at most retailers during the holidays.

Bing Crosby’s Oscar performance in “Going My Map” and singing the Oscar winning song “White Christmas in Holiday Inn” is only the beginning of two titanic holiday treats. Remembering the war years and the theme of God and Country brings an assembly of American Patriotism to the camouflage. Hollywood War years role provides a profitable dose with song and dance. For “Holiday Inn” (1942) a legend based on an Inn only inaugurate during the 15 major holidays (1940’s) with mammoth scale entertainment being the main attraction. Crosby and Astaire were the top stars and could guarantee almost any movie to be a success. Irving Berlin’s gargantuan song writing style proved he the needed ingredient for fair about any holiday song. Proving the match of “White Christmas and Bing Crosby” to be the most well-liked holiday song teaming ever. Going My Design (1944) was Crosby’s begin into the Dramatic Actor role with his crooner abilities and witticisms carry him all the intention to an Oscar. Father O’Malley (Crosby) a young Catholic priest comes to the rescue of a aging priest (Barry Fitzgerald Oscar winner for Best Supporting Actor), jumpy church and neighborhood. It isn’t long before Father O’Malley brings them all (with us included) together as a community. On the success of “Going My Blueprint” the very next year a sequel was made (Bell’s of Saint Mary’s ) with Crosby as Father O’Malley and Ingrid Bergman. (Substantial follow-up movie) . These family movies are a titanic diagram to introduce kids to our past and classic dark and white hollywood. This double feature DVD is a tremendous value with astounding narrate quality and sound.

I am an elementary art teacher & consume this video while teaching Claude Monet. I never tire of watching it, & neither do the kids. I spend it in my third grade curriculum, but kids in grades 4-6 expect to seek it again & again! I also spend the book of the same name which is nearly identical to the video. It is 30 minutes long, objective apt for young attention spans, and allows time at the demolish of class to fabricate lily pads & flowers “from Monet’s Garden”! My celebrated lesson. :o )

I exhaust this video in an “Arts Alive” presentation I do for third graders. I have aged it for 3 years and it is VERY well received by the classes. It really brings Monet’s paintings alive and shows them that art serene lives. It is a combo of cartoon chronicle, mild photos of Monet’s works and live-action video of his home in Giverny. A perfect choice for any school arts program of a gargantuan video for kids of any age.

Another reviewer mentioned that having Echoes here was worth the note of the DVD alone. I would agree, and add that having Wots..Uh the Deal also makes this worth the bucks. Too many of these songs he has done before ad infinitum (do we really need another capture on Coming Assist to Life or High Hopes?? ), but having this large track from my popular Floyd album “Obscured By Clouds”, is honest immense! Since that album is probably their least known (and certainly most underrated, in my book), it may assist to convince people to go befriend and spy where this comely song came from. Other than that, substantial describe and sound, and a ton of extras (not to mention what must be 3 1/2 hours of music), makes this one a must-have! And I only paid $11.99!!!

Literally worth five times the trace and an equal in it’s contain draw to PULSE, with intimacy and a freer feel offsetting the more minimal lighting (although enormously impressive in its beget true.)

As the other reviewers have given an correct overview I’ll impartial mention one cleave, that being “Comfortably Numb,” which you and I know every second of by heart, it’s in our blood.

This performance features David Bowie sharing lead vocals. Now the thought of anyone but Mr. Gilmour taking over vocals on this song is enough to perform my hair acquire on fire, but THIS WORKS. It actually becomes a Bowie song while remaining a Floyd epoch. It’s thrilling, it’s almost dreamlike to contemplate a singer of equal caliber and credibility to Mr. Gilmour piece this song and to select it’s inherent drama and mystery to another level entirely.

Buy,Download, Or Stream David Gilmour: Remember That Night – Live At The Royal Albert Hall! Click Here

The DVD also points out what a superior disc “On An Island” is, sadly overlooked by too many Floyd fans for not being heavy enough (man.)

And it’s in high def – you can almost approach out and shake Rick Wright’s hand.

Extras are top flight, situation is an astonishing bargain and you’ll have peril turning it off and going to bed. Mr. Gilmour once again proves that he’s in a class all by himself, a category of artist of which there is only one.

This is a title that seemed to reach out of nowhere, and it was mammoth from the originate. How could this have been passed up by me?

Yes, the sage revolves around early dynasty Japan and Samurai, but it is not what I expected, or have really seen before.

First off, unlike most Anime, the music is absolutely superior, and makes this memoir sad, brooding and mysterious. It is deep and effective. No goofy J-pop teenager whailing her head off here, objective dynamic and distinguished, as soundtrack should be.

Second, the figure detail is better than the box lets on. There’s a wealth of art in this legend, and the stylization of the drawing, painting, and even 3D varies regularly, without jumping around so remarkable you catch dizzy.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Shigurui: Death Frenzy Complete Box Set! Click Here

Really, they may employ only subtle 3D techniques, but they are attractive.

Lastly is the account. I actually read a review here that said it was “dreary”. Perhaps it could be seen that device, but only if you’re looking for a sword fighting frenzy. This is so distinguished more than action. I unprejudiced have to say that these writers know how to do what is missing from most anime, and that is how to execute depth without needing a saga of episodes to successfully beget the characters and area. From the very first episode, I was bent. I’ve been watching anime since the beginning, and this is one that I’m buying on Blu-ray. The dialogue and sets, the tension, the darkness, and the violence all have site to breathe, and go together very well.

Put all these elements together and you have a viewing experience that no anime fan will easily forget. This is going on my top 20 list, and certainly is my common Samurai anime of all time. (Yes, better than Samurai 7, and better than Sword of the Stranger, objective to name a few.) It’s simply darker, deeper, and more stale on many levels. Sound like your style? Obliging, then remove it and aid the industry.

I dont procure why people would give it anything less than five stars. I’ve only watched 1 disk and i could not look the other one and serene be pleased with this pick. It is a beautifully done anime with intense visuals. Both artistic and gory. At first i didn’t understand what was going on because it starts at the destroy. But once it goes into the steady myth you are so caught up in what is going on that i couldn’t terminate watching. I watched the entire first disk in one sitting after dinner. By far one of my unusual favorites. If you like more complex and ragged anime, you will like this.

Soul Hunter is based, abate loosely, upon one of the more appealing (and rarely translated) Chinese classic called Investiture of the Gods (or Creation of the Gods) . This work is centered around one of the most tyrannical king in Chinese legends, king Zhou (roughly 1100 BC) and his offending the goddess, Nu Wa (Dakki, in this translation) that ultimately led to the downfall of the Shang dynasty (Yin, here… i believe) . interestingly (for me anyway), Investiture of the Gods was written in a very pro-Taoist manner, in dissimilarity to Pilgrimage to the West (with the Monkey King) where the most grand deities were Buddhists… fair my $0.02.

BUT ENOUGH of that slow background stuff… on to the anime.

Soul Hunter is a series spanning 6 dvds and follows Taikoubou’s (a taoist seer) bolt to bind 365 demons (including Dakki herself) to prevent unbalancing the order of things in the mortal world.

animated in the style of Slayers and El Hazard (a silly anime in its beget true) in both its model art and tongue in cheek humor, Soul Hunter is light hearted and very well translated (the English relate acting is very respectable) — in fact, on the dvd, there are ‘Translator’s Notes’ that explains itsy-bitsy tidbits that might be missed during the first viewing of the series.

the first few episodes are a limited dumb until the different characters had some time to invent and then it picks up fair mercurial with all of the usual manic skirmishes between different mystical powers.

cleanly drawn and well acted, net past the slightly lifeless inaugurate and you’ll be bent.

Senkaiden Houshin Engi (title changed to Soul Hunter, um ok) is one of the best, if not the best anime I have ever seen. Not to mention this DVD has -5- episodes! So take it! Now!

Taikoubou leads a cast of quirky characters brought together by queer circumstances. The predicament is Taikoubou is not a normal hero by any means and has no way of completing his quest to seal 365 demon sennins. He figures he’ll objective go after Dakki, the harmful temptress that has taken over the empire and who he believes to be the head honcho. Armed with his weapon, the paopei of wind called Daishinben, his bumbling adventures inaugurate.

While at first this explain may near across as a light-hearted, funny adventure, it turns out to be worthy more as the dwelling deepens and allies become enemies. Pasts are brought out and secrets are revealed. Taikoubou may even turn out to be a strategic genius who truely believes the words of the heart are stronger than steel. Then again, he may unbiased be as lifeless as you contemplate! ~_*

Here’s a movie for dog lovers, the elderly, children of divorce, FOBs (Friends of Birds), primitive Boy Scouts, people yearning for adventure, and anyone who has ever loved… and lost. Up is for everyone. It made me laugh out loud, and it made me bellow.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Up! Click Here

I idea it would be tough for Up to match the emotional power of Wall-E. The two Pixar films are similar in their lack of dialogue in the first act, which helps deepen the emotional impact. Up begins with Carl, a horrified young boy star-struck by a well-known explorer; and kookie Ellie, who has a similar obsession. The two kids become rapid friends, and advise to one day disappear to Venezuela’s Paradise Falls. After getting married, they recall their dream home and fix it up, hoping to own it with children. Carl and Ellie’s life together from childhood through extinct age is depicted, silently, with delicacy and subtlety. The first 15 minutes is like a celebration of a gratified marriage, and you truly feel Carl’s wound when he is left alone. He sits slumped in his chair, talking to the house as if it is the missing Ellie.

When developers terminate in on Carl’s beloved home, he decides to fulfill his promise to Ellie and move to Paradise Falls. A used balloon vendor, Carl lifts his home with hundreds of sparkling balloons. Stowing away on the porch is Russell, a full, mettlesome kid trying to procure a scouting badge.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Up! Click Here

After landing in Paradise Falls, the obsolete man and the minute boy are joined by a golden retriever named Dug who can talk with his collar, and a substantial rare bird that bonds with Russell (he names her “Kevin”) . Dug is priceless: spot-on for every dog that ever lived, including an obsession with squirrels. Through a series of finish calls and adventures, the quartet vanquishes a villain, saving the day. And Russell earns his scouting badge.

In the process, Carl learns to let go of his murky mourning for Ellie, and live life again. When this happens, a truly magical thing happens. Before, Carl’s craggy face is gray and monochromatic. At the moment of his transformation, Carl’s face is awash in color, and he is surrounded by elegant hues. It reminded me of The Wizard of Oz, when Dorothy steps out of her gray world and into a candy-colored Munchkinland. Carl, too, enters a whole fresh world.

Up is a deeply emotional film, bulky of truth. It’s the year’s best film. Fetch another triumph for Pixar.

Someday, Pixar is going to do it — they’re going to gain an emotionally uninspiring, lackluster engaging movie. But in the meantime, they’re composed putting out scrumptious spicy movies like “Up,” which defies the usual kid-movie conventions by starring a crotchety aged man. It’s a charming, fun exiguous adventure sage with flying dogs and balloon-powered houses, but underlying it is a bittersweet cramped anecdote about loss and admire.

As a child, the disturbed Carl Fredricksen bonded with the oddball Ellie over their shared worship of adventure, the explorer Charles Muntz, and Paradise Falls. They later married, depart into their “clubhouse” together, and lived a long, sadly childless life together. When Ellie died, she had never fulfilled her dream of going to Paradise Falls.

Now crotchety, alone and harassed by a proper estate developer, Carl (Ed Asner) is finally ordered to a retirement home. But he isn’t going quietly — instead he attaches thousands of balloons to his house and floats it away toward South America. But he accidentally takes an involved, naive Wilderness Explorer (a thinly-veiled Boy Scout) named Russell (Jordan Nagai) along for the journey. Bad kid was impartial trying to bag an “assisting the elderly” badge.

And the jungle lumber to Paradise Falls turns out to have some surprising obstacles: a substantial emulike bird that Russell names Kevin, a talking dog named Dug (”I am jumping on you, bird!”), and a mysterious frail man who lives deep in the heart of the jungle. Turns out the musty guy is very familiar to Carl — and to retract Kevin, he’s willing to sacrifice Carl and Russell.

Industry experts were babbling about how “Up” wouldn’t be as celebrated as the previous Pixar movies, because the protagonist is basically a crusty faded coot. Well, shows what they know. It ended up becoming one of those classic movies that somehow appeals to all ages — while the humor and action appeal to children, adults can be pleased Carl’s care for for his lost wife, and his unimaginative realization that he’s clinging to the past.

In fact, the first ten minutes are some of the most heart-tugging, quietly bittersweet scenes I’ve seen in a long time. Without a word, they exhibit all the ups and downs of a realistic marriage — joys, sorrows (Ellie’s inability to have children), growing ragged together, and finally loss.

But it’s not a depressing movie by any stretch — in fact, it’s like a childhood fantasy approach to life, complete with a floating house suspended on hundreds of balloons, and biplanes piloted by a talking dog army.. Plenty of huge dialogue (”Do you want to play a game? It’s called Behold Who Can Go the Longest Without Saying Anything.” “Wintry! My mom loves that game!”) and an action-packed climax in an traditional airship.

Ed Asner is absolutely perfect as ubergrouch Carl — crotchety, grumpy, and clear to fulfill his wife’s lifelong dream, but gradually realizing he’s clinging to the past. Nagai is equally perfect as Carl’s polar opposite: a naive, chattery Scout who is positive to reunite Kevin with her baby chicks. And the utterly adorable Dug and the other dogs deserve special explore. These creatures are utterly hilarious — they talk (”I hid under your porch because I admire you”) and act the intention dogs would if they talked. Three words: cone of shame.

The two-disc edition is going to have some very nice extras, but once again people with regular-def DVDs are going to pick up shafted because the Blu-ray edition will have a bunch of curious stuff. Grr. As for this one, there’s a digital copy, the director’s audio commentary, kinda-alternate-ending “The Many Endings of Muntz,” and the documentary “Adventure Is Out There” about the research for this movie.

There are also a pair of adorable titillating shorts. “Partly Cloudy” has a much-abused stork having to affirm potentially contaminated baby creatures from a kind but clueless cloud. And “Dug’s Special Mission” is a sort of backstory for the adorable Dug, explaining what the heck he was doing before he met up with Carl and Russell.

“Up” continues Pixar’s running tally of gloriously curious, emotionally layered movies that the entire family can appreciate. With that, I have only one more thing to say… SQUIRREL!

First off, let me say that several people have reviewed this item incorrectly. The item above is NOT the AUDIO DVD of the Rumours album (DVD-A) . The Audio DVD is a completely different experience than the item you are looking at. This item is a regular “movie” visual-type DVD that includes interviews with the band and that breaks down the music peice by peice. It’s been on TV before…and, it’s been available on VHS for quite a long time. With that said…

Being a gigantic FM and Stevie fan, I purchased this on DVD hoping that it might have additional footage or features that were not on the VHS (which, of course I have already) . Well sadly, there is nothing additional on the DVD. However, this is unexcited such a Huge thing to have. It’s absolutely extraordinary to listen to Stevie, alone at her candlelit piano, singing “Dreams”. It makes me bellow because it’s so blooming. That 30 seconds of video ALONE is worth the prefer tag. It’s amazing to hear the music “taken apart” at the soundboard, instrument by instrument, sound by sound, issue by stammer. It really helps you understand and savor the painstaking process this was for all of them. If you’ve never seen it, you really should grasp it – on either format – DVD or VHS – it really makes no dissimilarity.

Ahh, turmoil makes for trustworthy albums, but who didn’t know that’s what Rumours was all about. It’s unruffled quite attractive to hear Fleetwood Mac mutter the stories themselves of how the songs that made up their landmark album came together. Why “Rhiannon” is included here is beyond me, it wasn’t even on that album. The song was released when Buckingham and Nicks joint the group one album prior, so there’s some significance. It was Christine that came up with the burly riff that dominates “You Invent Loving Fun”, but together with Lindsey they made a masterpiece. Between a classic live performance of the song, John and Christine discuss their petrified relationship during the recording. Stevie Nicks reveals that she wrote “Dreams” in Sly Stones bed, and how Lindsey always had a device to produce her songs sound gargantuan, when he was gay with her. The Scottish/Irish folk influenced “Second Hand News” was a Buckingham contribution. He reveals that he was listening to the Bee Gee’s “Jive Talking” at the time he wrote it. Mick Fleetwood offers an arresting dinky tidbit here; he wasn’t the unique man out when it came to dysfunctional relationship. Not only were Lindsey and Stevie & John and Christine on the skid, he was dealing with his best friend sleeping with his wife. They’re tranquil friends today though.

Mick breaks down the runt pieces that fabricate up “Go Your Absorb Plan” in the studio to reveal how it all comes together. Lindsey demonstrates on an acoustic guitar how notable the background riff to the song was. Some substantial stories near out of the discussion of “Never Going Serve Again”. Stevie and Christine always had each other to turn to, John emphasizes how drug expend was favorite spot support then, but realizes how abominable they were, and the producers thunder a hilarious record of mishandled drugs. You’ve gotta adore Lindsey’s afro in the video for “Don’t Halt”. The band goes into how the song is connected to President Clinton. The producer states that he felt “Songbird” sounded like a concert hall type song, so they booked a concert hall to narrate it. They dwelling up a piano with flowers and champagne for Christine to play away. They include performance footage in which I can’t enlighten if it’s Christine abet then or Christine today. She really hasn’t former a bit. The DVD covers the song “Silver Springs” which didn’t actually appear on the album. The producers said they had to nick it due to time location. There’s a live performance of “The Chain” from the eighties, circa Lindsey’s droll hat days. The group reveals that the song was changed at the last exiguous to get it work.
